Convocation of Peacemakers

April 15-17

What would happen if those who cared deeply about peace got together and did something about it?
Come and find out.
"Never be afraid to preach peace in the church of Jesus Christ." -Ann Weems

From Rick

Friends,

We have not been in touch for awhile. There is a lot going on that we'll be telling you about soon, but this note is just to bring your attention to an event that promises to be transformative for our organization and for the church.

The Presbyterian Peace Fellowship is inviting you into a hard conversation about nonviolence, the best way to respond to violence in our time, and the future of our church. We're holding a Convocation of Peacemakers at Stony Point, April 15-17, 2010 to craft a new direction for peacemaking in our denomination and we want you to come.

Click Here for full details on the Convocation of Peacemakers.

Expect your own beliefs to be tested as we strategize about how best to follow Jesus' command to 'love your enemies' in a world increasingly addicted to war. This conference will be equal parts inspiration, introspection, learning, strategizing, and building up the community of followers of Jesus. The format will include keynote speeches by the amazing Dr. Obery Hendricks, workshops on skill building and current PPF work, and 'open space' for convocation participants to set their own agenda.

This Convocation will be a place for you to meet others who do peace work, talk about the work that you're already doing, and recommit yourself to this slow, beautiful, countercultural work. We're going to strategize about how to move the PC(USA) on the question of non-violence. Your input will inform PPF's presence at General Assembly in Minneapolis this July.

Christ called you to be a peacemaker – we are calling you to raise your voice and help us make the PC(USA) a more potent agent for peace in the world. Please join us.

Your sisters and brothers in peace,

Rick Ufford-Chase, Executive Director,
and Members of The Presbyterian Peace Fellowship

P.S. And don't let money stop you – scholarships are available.
