Vigil to Close the SOA/WHINSEC
November 20-22, 2009
The annual vigil to close down the SOA/WHINSEC will take place from November 20-22, 2009 in Columbus, Georgia, home to the School of the Americas. Thousands of people from all over the Americas will converge at the gates of Fort Benning to keep the pressure on Congress and the Obama administration. The Presbyterian Peace Fellowship will be there! Come to Columbus to participate in the educational (and fun!) workshops and the deeply moving vigil.
Plan now to join us. PPF has reserved a block of rooms for four nights beginning November 19 for Presbyterians planning to spend at least two nights in Columbus. We can provide transportation from the Atlanta airport for those arriving on Thursday or on Friday morning and return transportation to the airport on Monday morning.
The Presbyterian breakfast is an opportunity to network with other Presbyterians from around the country, honor recent Prisoners of Conscience and Colombia Accompaniment program volunteers, and hear updates on PPF activities. The breakfast will be at the Holiday Inn North on Saturday, November 21 from 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. Cost is $10 for a full breakfast and reservations are required.
On Saturday afternoon and on Sunday, PPF will have an information table at the vigil site. Following the formal vigil on Sunday morning, you are invited to join us at the table to walk together to the gate for a brief prayer and communion service.
