Fall 2018 Activist Council Gathering

Thursday, September 20, 2018 to Saturday, September 22, 2018

REGISTER HERE (Registration deadline: September 6)

Join us for 2.5 days of learning, worship, training, and building community together. Whether you’ve been to an Activist Council meeting before or not–you are welcome! We’ll start at 2 p.m. on September 20 and end with lunch on September 22.

The Fall Activist Council meeting will be held at the Church of All Nations, home to the Underground Seminary, right outside of Minneapolis, MN. Having the Fall Activist Council meeting here is a special opportunity for PPF, because the Underground Seminary is a part of PPF’s Peace Community initiative. The goal of the Underground Seminary is to expose the logic of empire and its devastating effects on people and the earth, study the bible as a counter-imperial witness, and seek to heal the trauma inflicted by empire. We are honored and excited to see more up-close how they are building the Beloved Community.

Our time together will include plenaries and workshops that explore principles & training for nonviolent direct action, decolonizing our bodies and our movements, and dismantling oppressions. This gathering is also a time to plan for PPF’s work and witness around gun violence prevention, accompaniment in Colombia, creation justice, Middle East Peace, and more. See the full agenda below.

Not an Activist Council member? That’s OK! Everyone is welcome to be part of the Activist Council Gathering. We hope our time together will inspire you to join, but membership on the Activist Council is not a requirement to full participation in the Gathering. Learn more about the Activist Council here.

Cost: $85 registration
Participants are responsible for making their own lodging arrangements. Please see below for hotel options.
There are some scholarships available. Please email info@presbypeacefellowship.org if you need financial assistance.

Hotel:
You are responsible for making your own hotel reservations. You can make a reservation with Key Inn at 651-636-6730. We have a block of rooms at the Key Inn with a rate of 69.90 + tax per night. When calling to make the reservation, let them know you would like a room in the Presbyterian Peace Fellowship block of rooms.

You will be able to get the block rate until September 6. After that, the rooms will be released to the public. You can also make a reservation with the Radisson Hotel at 651-367-3906. It is not far from the church but it is the more expensive option and we do not have a block rate there.

If you would like a roommate but aren’t sure who else is attending, please indicate that in your registration and we will help match you up to others who are also looking for a roommate.

Travel Grants: We have some limited travel grants available. To apply for one, please send us a little bit of information via this form, and we will get back to you. Because our grants are limited, we recommend that you also ask your church or Presbytery mission or peacemaking committee for support.
