Thursday, September 28, 2017 to Saturday, September 30, 2017
We hope you’ll join us for the PPF Activist Council Gathering at the Stony Point Center in Stony Point, NY September 28-30, 2017. Registration is now closed. This is the annual business and planning meeting of the Activist Council. The gathering will begin with lunch at noon on Thursday, September 28 and conclude with lunch on Saturday, September 30.
At this meeting we will elect new members of the Executive Committee, worship together, and spend time brainstorming and planning how PPF can take the work of the General Assembly on peacemaking issues and use their work to further engage in peacemaking in the PC(USA) and world. We will also continue our anti-racism work as a group and we will hear about the current work of the PPF and how we may continue to grow and deepen it. Whether you are brand new to the Activist Council or have been around for decades, you are invited to come and bring yourself, your ideas, and your experiences.
PPF Executive Director Emily Brewer will be ordained in New York City on Sunday, October 1 at 3:00pm. If you would like to stay to attend the ceremony, you may stay an additional night (Saturday night) at Stony Point Center. Please indicate if you will need a ride into the city (or back to SPC) on your registration form.
If you are arriving by plane, Stony Point Center is closest to the Newark Airport. You can find more details about other forms of transportation and make reservations for pick-ups at the SPC transportation page. If you need to schedule a pick-up from or to Newark, we can arrange that for you. Just note it in the appropriate place in the registration form and you can pay the $50 (each way) on-site. We will do our best to arrange car-pools with other AC members to the airport on Saturday.”
The cost of registration covers only your lodging and meals. We don’t want money to hold someone back from coming, so we’ve kept registration costs as low as possible and we do have some scholarships. Are you able to give an extra gift of $50, $100, $200, or even $500 to help toward the actual costs of this Activist Council Gathering? Your gift (available to add on during registration) will help bring more faithful activists through scholarships and deepen our commitment to dismantling white supremacy though an important anti-racism training.
We hope you’ll come meet, worship, collaborate, conspire, organize, and strategize for peace! Together, we will learn and plan to do faith-rooted organizing for peace within our communities and the Presbyterian Church (USA). Some financial assistance is available. Please contact Emily Brewer with any questions about the event or financial assistance at email@example.com.
