An Update from Presbyterian Peace Fellowship Leadership
January 5, 2026
Dear PPF Community of Peacemakers;
As the co-moderators of Presbyterian Peace Fellowship, we write to inform you of a recent change in the organization, with an eye to what is next. We thank Dr. Laurie Lyter Bright for her time of service with PPF, and Laurie has made the decision to end her time as Executive Director of PPF effective at the beginning of this year (January 2, 2026). Laurie’s resignation was accepted with hopes and prayers for her and her next endeavors and for the continuing faithful work of PPF, which we all share in together.
The Executive Committee (EC), staff, and Working Groups of PPF continue to work on the shared mission of peacemaking, and we are deeply grateful for your ongoing partnership, prayers, and support. As you may know, plans have already gotten underway for PPF to have an active presence at the Presbyterian Church (USA) General Assembly meeting this summer, and a planning committee is meeting regularly. The Gun Violence Prevention Working Group is meeting this weekend to plan for 2026 programs. The work of PPF continues with focus, momentum, and resolve, across our core areas of engagement, including but not limited to peace churches, solidarity with the people of Palestine, and abolitionist approaches to justice and safety.
The EC is committed to doing the work to carry PPF forward, through this time of transition and beyond. The EC will continue to provide active oversight, while discerning next steps. Peacemaking has always been a collective endeavor, sustained by shared values, strong partnerships, and faithful collaboration. At age 81+ of years, PPF seems more than suited for the task.
Times of transition invite both reflection and renewed trust. Guided by our conviction that the work of peace is ultimately sustained by a purpose greater than any one leader, we remain faithful to the mission entrusted to us. Further updates will be shared in appropriate due course. If you have any questions, or if there is some aspect of PPF which you have long felt called to be a part of or are just feeling a tug now, please reach out to the co-moderators (Harry Eberts: hweberts3@gmail.com; Schaunel Steinnagel: rvschaunel@aol.com), and we will respond.
Sincerely,
Harry Eberts (EC Class 2028)
Schaunel Steinnagel (EC Class 2026)
